You are really going to enjoy using these this summer. We made templates of our Adirondack chair pattern pieces out of luan. Now when we make new ones, it’s easy to trace where to cut on the wood. Our first set, made years and years ago, finally rotted to the point that we had to throw them out, so making a new set is on our spring “to-do” list.
Through it all, the furniture patiently endures--ever handsome, ever inviting, ever lasting. To survive summertime abuse and the semiannual ritual of being dragged into and out of storage, outdoor furniture must be sturdy, rugged, and well built--all qualities that epitomize Adirondack pieces. .
Mahogany: Mahogany rivals teak and oak for strength. It has a rich, dense grain and resists decay. It also has good scratch resistance, but it requires refinishing every year to stay that way.

Adirondack chairs are classically made out of wood; however, that may not be the best material choice for the outdoors. Instead, today’s manufacturers craft the iconic look of Adirondack chairs in materials that are more Mother Nature friendly, such as poly-wood or teak. Our poly-wood collections are available in an abundance of bright colors to liven up any space, come in either classic or shellback, and they can be partnered with coordinating cushions for an even more inviting seating option.

I ordered the Basic Adirondack package in white about a year ago and I am already shopping for more! I live on the border of Adirondack Park so I had a lot of options for Adirondack chairs. These folks had the best price for the quality that I could find in my shopping experience.
Should you decide you don’t like the color of this chair, you could consider painting it, but then you’ll have to maintain the paint. Should you want to paint, start with a high-quality exterior primer, and follow an exterior paint like Benjamin Moore’s Regal Select Low Lustre. Be sure you remove all the steel fasteners before you paint, as you don’t want to get paint on the fasteners.
