Lots of small everyday household products, such as milk jugs, are made with HDPE. When you put those HDPE products in your recycling container, they’re often recycled into bigger everyday household products, such as trashcans, or — you guessed it — outdoor furniture. In the case of HDPE, the recycling process is sometimes referred to as “downcycling” because the original HDPE experiences some changes to its basic property types during the recycling process, and can’t be recycled a second time (when it’s in its outdoor furniture form).
These chairs are wonderful. Ours are green and cedar. We love the quality, workmanship and price. Am planning on going to visit the Dutch Country Store this fall.
Mine was doing chalky powder too I found out that it was too hot out and the mist when I was spraying was drying before touching the plastic. So I used a micro fiber cloth wipe off the plastic table I was doing and put another coat once it started to get dark out no chalky powder. I should have known. I’m doing the chairs tomorrow and was looking up how people have done chairs.
The Adirondack chair comes in various names such as Cottage chair, Muskoka chair, Laurentian, Westport plank chair, and Miles Comins chair.
Something else that you will want to take into consideration is the overall height of the seat for each chair. Adirondack chairs are known for their relaxing slanted design. While this design does help to make them exceptionally comfortable, it does make getting up out of them a bit harder, especially if you have any mobility issues. This can be solved by getting a chair with a higher seat since it will allow you to keep your knees from flexing too much, which will make getting up a whole lot easier.

Teak: Teak is one of the most durable hardwoods on the market. A special oil found in the heartwood gives it the strength and durability to last a good 60 to 70 years. Even in weather conditions that swing from hot to cold and wet to dry, teak won’t split, rot, or crack. You will need to apply a sealant each year, but that’s it for upkeep. This popular wood comes at a high price, but you can leave it outside for years, and it will still provide a beautiful, relaxing surface on which to sit.
The design proved popular, and Lee made a number of chairs for family and friends. Then, in 1904, when his hunting pal, Harry C. Bunnell, found himself without a source of winter income, Lee handed over the plans to his chair. And Bunnell, without Lee’s knowledge, received a patent for the design—with a few added features. Harry C. Bunnell, of Westport, New York's Chair, patented July 18, 1905 U.S. Patent 794,777
I need some Adirondack chairs!!! I think I need to add them to my project list. They turned out great!

I just painted mine with the exact same paint she used. I put mine in the garage a couple days after I finished them because it was suppose to rain. They got a little dusty so I went to brush them off with a soft cloth and the color came off on my cloth. Now I am also afraid to sit in them.
