We do not build our chairs with little stick legs or narrow back boards with large gaps between them. We use thick one and a half inch thick boards for the front and back legs which provides more surface area to screw and glue down the seat and arm boards. This makes our chairs tough and sturdy and less likely to split out over time. Now what about the all important Adirondack chair arms? All our original designs feature traditional wide one inch thick arms because simply put they make the classic American iconic chair what it is; without them you would not have that perfect spot to place your drink, plate of food, book or anything else. It is our goal to make our chairs well balanced, eye catching as well as strong and long lasting. No two pieces of wood are exactly the same. This is why it is best for us to assemble our chairs one at a time. Using this type of detailed craftsmanship allows us to make sure that each and every Clarks Original that leaves our shop goes together correctly and is our best. We are very confident that when you get ready to assemble your chair it will go together the way it is suppose too.

Should you decide you don’t like the color of this chair, you could consider painting it, but then you’ll have to maintain the paint. Should you want to paint, start with a high-quality exterior primer, and follow an exterior paint like Benjamin Moore’s Regal Select Low Lustre. Be sure you remove all the steel fasteners before you paint, as you don’t want to get paint on the fasteners.

For smaller spaces use a side table or cafe’ table next to a baloney chair. We offer different height dining chairs and tables. Choose square, rectangular or round dinning tables to accommodate your personal space. With custom design and brilliant colors the possibilities are endless!
Off to Lowes we go and return with a truck full of wood. Make sure to get treated wood for this project since your DIY Adirondack chairs will be used outdoors.

It had already become fashionable for people of means to escape the stifling urbanization by fleeing northward to the mountains, where they could reconnect with nature through hunting, fishing and hiking. This led Marc Cook, a New York City office worker stricken with tuberculosis, to take to the mountains in a last-ditch effort to restore his health. He recovered, and shared his experience in an 1881 book titled The Wilderness Cure.

    3. If you can’t determine what kind of plastic your furniture is, then it’s best not to try to recycle it, because doing so could lead to contamination of other recyclable plastics.
Last but not least is fir wood. We suggest going with the most popular one, the Douglas fir. It has long been used in building houses from floors to decks and even garden furniture.

One of the biggest issues with an Adirondack chair is that they are very hard to store. This is mostly because they are much larger than a standard chair. To combat this issue, many manufacturers design their chairs to be foldable. However, many models don’t work too well, as they only fold part of the way. This chair, thankfully, is quite different in this regard. If you choose to fold this chair, it will allow you to fold it up completely, which makes storage a whole lot easier, especially if space is limited.
