As the weather starts to warm up we start to think about spending more time outside. We decided that this year we want to build Adirondack chairs from scratch. Lucky for us, we found free plans to build Adirondack chairs online which makes this project so much easier. .

The price of poly lumber has gone up during the past 5 months due to COVID shortages. Our suppliers have notified us that more price increases are on the way. Please note that during the busy season (March, April, May, June and July) we can only accept a small portion of order requests due to demand that is much higher than we can handle. Consider buying furniture during the Fall and Winter when supply and demand are more balanced.

As for the size of the chair, it’s slightly smaller then the King Size Highwood brand. Which is probably to be expected having a smaller weight capacity of 300 pounds. The seat itself is just under 21″ wide and sits 14 inches from the ground. As for the back of the chair it’s also just shorter at 36.9 inches in height. Assembly is somewhat easier, but do note: Don’t over tighten the screws or you could damage the ends,or even worse crack the slat. Just go gently if using a drill.
Like we said before, one of the biggest benefits of getting a plastic Adirondack chair is that they are so easy to move from place to place. While wooden chairs can easily weigh upwards of 50 or even 60 lbs., plastic models usually top out at around 35-40 lbs.
Without any treatment, it can last for up to a decade. So you can only imagine how long it will live if you treat it. I sprayed painted my brown resin wicker chairs white! The white is flaking off. How do I get this white paint off? I decided to leave it brown! Please help. I was told to use a pressure washer to take it off.
Hey Diane! You definitely want them to be smooth and very clean so the paint will stick. I’m not sure sanding plastic is necessary, but giving them a good scrub is a good idea. If they’re wood, then yes, sand them first.

Adirondack chairs are expensive mainly because they are guaranteed to stay durable over time without requiring excessive maintenance.
I did the exact same thing this weekend. I used the same green. I used seaside for the blue. I also painted one ye!low & one red. Did the same w/ my yardsale lanterns. It prompted my husband to buy a matching patio umbrella.
