We just gave away a patio set made of iron and all-weather (plastic) wicker. I would have preferred to repaint the iron and get new cushions made but my husband wanted a different look. Luckily a young and crafty couple were looking for a good project and took the whole whole set off our hands. I asked them to post pictures when they finish redoing them. Since living in my neighborhood we found that almost anything we no longer want or need can be reused by someone in a creative way. Had not idea that plastic could be successfully spray painted. Good to know. Reply 1 Like Share ▾ ▸ Charyse K. 3 years ago I made a wind chime out of our old keys. Great sound. 2 Like Find out if your local municipality uses plastics in road care. It will be picked up curbside and processed into the road resurfacing. I was surprised to discover our backwards community did this. 0 Like Patricia G. 3 years ago I saw where a man repaired the chairs by adding wood and screwing it in or something. Fir is resistant to rotting, decay, and insects and it is fairly waterproof. It doesn’t dry, swell, and warp from fluctuations in temperature, moisture, and pressure. The wood expands and contracts uniformly, maintaining stability.
Wooden chairs can be hard on your backside. Cushions are usually sold separately, but they can make your Adirondack chairs much more comfortable. You’ll need to make sure the cushion fabric repels water and resists fading in sunlight. Cushions should be removed in the winter months if you plan to leave the chairs outside year-round.
As the story goes, during one summer in Westport, Lee felt a desire to create a chair that could handle the rugged terrain of the Adirondacks. This chair would have to be sturdy, balanced, and comfortable on everything from sandy ground to a small hill.

As for the size of the chair, it’s slightly smaller then the King Size Highwood brand. Which is probably to be expected having a smaller weight capacity of 300 pounds. The seat itself is just under 21″ wide and sits 14 inches from the ground. As for the back of the chair it’s also just shorter at 36.9 inches in height. Assembly is somewhat easier, but do note: Don’t over tighten the screws or you could damage the ends,or even worse crack the slat. Just go gently if using a drill.
As this chair is made from Polystyrene materials, it’s also a minimal maintenance chair. Unless you want to paint the chair a different color as it only comes in a golden oak color. Which may or may not suit your decor.
1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Quality Control and Customer Service Terrible quality control. Ordered two and could not assemble; no matter what I tried, the bolt and pin hole alignment to secure the chair to the front legs were off by 3/4 of an inch. Customer service recording gives you a 3 minute presentation on the Covid impact to the Company and says they are not responding to any new inquiries. They suggest to check the website for assembly videos, which is of no help because the chair in the video of course aligns perfectly. Thankful for using Amazon, both are going back tomorrow.
