Simple repair: Drill a 3/8 inch hole at about the same distance to either side of the split and use a nylon wire tie (zip tie) to hold the split together. If the split is long, you might want to use a few parallel wire ties. The wire ties will last a season or two before they break, and will need replacement. .

You may find it helpful to loosen the bolts in the pivot spacer to make unfolding the assembly easier. Next, attach the seat to the front legs using (2) 1 7/8" bolts, (2) 1/4" washers, and (2) 1/4" nylock nuts. Tighten with a 7/16" wrench and the provided 4mm T-handle hex key. For quicker assembly you can use a drill and a 4mm hex bit instead of the provided hex key. Finally, insert the adirondack pins into the seat of the chair. You can use a soft mallet to tap the pins into place. If you loosened the bolts in the pivot spacer before step 1, go ahead and tighten those at this time. Love your idea and the color! Went out and bought the exact same color (satin lagoon). I scrubbed my 2 chairs with a brush and used the hose to rinse and let them dry for hours before painting. Ran out of paint before finishing my second chair. Had to wait about 2-3 weeks to finish a little bit of touch up on 1st chair (due to back problems). I waited at least 3 weeks before even thinking about sitting on it. I also kept it in the garage for several days to dry right after spraying it (so it wouldn’t get rained on). I used an old towel to dry off the raindrops and noticed blue paint! Now I’m afraid to let anyone sit on it. I didn’t use primer. Any suggestions?
