Termites are very tiny bugs yet surprisingly wreak unimaginable havoc. They attack wood that is situated anywhere for a significant period of time, damaging it severely in a short period.
Wood is susceptible to damage from prolonged exposure to water and sunlight. The first step to protecting your wood adirondack chairs is a preventative step; always cover or store your chairs (in a dry place) when they are not in use. This will prevent any damage and cut down on your maintenance work. .

You are really going to enjoy using these this summer. We made templates of our Adirondack chair pattern pieces out of luan. Now when we make new ones, it’s easy to trace where to cut on the wood. Our first set, made years and years ago, finally rotted to the point that we had to throw them out, so making a new set is on our spring “to-do” list.

Last but not least is fir wood. We suggest going with the most popular one, the Douglas fir. It has long been used in building houses from floors to decks and even garden furniture.
I don’t know about you but I’ll be spending a good chunk of the summer in our backyard. I can just see myself with a (sometimes adult) beverage in hand watching my kiddos play. It is like a dream…until I realized that there’s no great place to sit! Ya see, we’ve had these disgusting plastic Adirondack chairs for years that leave a white chalky mark on your bee-hind.
In 1991 a lot behind McDonalds became available that was perfect for the company’s growing needs. That same year a family partnership was formed and over the next several years the business continued to grow, adding sheds, gazebos, and playsets to their available products.
Love your idea and the color! Went out and bought the exact same color (satin lagoon). I scrubbed my 2 chairs with a brush and used the hose to rinse and let them dry for hours before painting. Ran out of paint before finishing my second chair. Had to wait about 2-3 weeks to finish a little bit of touch up on 1st chair (due to back problems). I waited at least 3 weeks before even thinking about sitting on it. I also kept it in the garage for several days to dry right after spraying it (so it wouldn’t get rained on). I used an old towel to dry off the raindrops and noticed blue paint! Now I’m afraid to let anyone sit on it. I didn’t use primer. Any suggestions?
